VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training

This blended learning course is designed to equip a wide range of teachers/trainers and facilitators with the requisite skills and knowledge required to fulfill a teaching role. This course covers preparation, planning and basic course design. They will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in microteaching sessions. Evaluation skills and techniques also form part of the course content. Topics covered include:

The roles and responsibilities of a teacher in education

• Relationships between different professionals in education and training
• Inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of learners
• Creating a safe and supportive learning environment that engages and motivates learners
• Planning, delivery and evaluation of inclusive teaching and learning
• Self Reflection on own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills
• Identify different types and methods of assessment
• On successful completion you will receive an accredited VTCT certificate.

This course will be a blend of online and Face to face learning and consist of 3 units .

Unit 1 -

Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

Unit 2 -

Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training

Unit 3 -

Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

The VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) is a qualification for those interested in a teaching career in further education or for those who have recently started teaching. There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification; however, there is a considerable amount of written work to be completed. This will involve reading of reference books, researching specific topics, applying theory to practical scenarios and demonstrating knowledge and understanding through written work. Therefore, candidates for this course should have a good standard of written and verbal communications skills and be prepared to undertake a considerable amount of evening study.
