Psychological First Aid

This online course will facilitate an appreciation of the complex range of symptoms that a person can experience when stressed due to a traumatic experience. It will enable you to recognise and manage your own psychological first aid through a range of validated techniques that build both resilience and improve coping.

By the end of this course, you will have:

  • An increased knowledge around the definitions of Psychological First Aid.
  • An understanding of the psychosocial impact of emergencies such as COVID-19.
  • A greater awareness for symptoms and ways to address them.
  • An understanding of the ‘Prepare’ ‘Look’ ‘Listen’ and ‘Link’ methodology
  • An awareness of how to better support yourself and colleagues following trauma.

On completion of the course, you will be able to download your own certificate from Virtual College NI.

Please note this is not an accredited first aid course nor should it be substituted in place of any formal mental health or psychological first aid training.

This course will be delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment and can be completed at your own pace.

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about psychological first aid and how to deal with stressful situations and experiences.

Whilst it is suitable for anyone, it is also valuable continuing professional development for various industry professionals to help them in their roles day to day.
